There are lots of great places to live in San Diego, but one of the county's ZIP codes shines above the rest.
The real-estate website Movoto says that San Diego's 92121 ZIP code is not only the best one in the county, but the sixth best out of 28,061 in the United States.
The area stretches from the University of California San Diego, east to Miramar, and north to Sorrento Valley and Torrey Pines. It includes the biotech cluster around the university as well as Qualcomm's headquarters, located off Mira Mesa Boulevard.
Movoto bases its rankings on data, such as median household income, unemployment rate, average commute time, median rent and home worth, high school graduation rate and the number of families below the poverty line, from the U.S. Census American Community Survey.
"This ZIP code shows that San Diego has a lot of culture and history to go around," says the Movoto post, written by Laura Allan. "What it also had was some great numbers, in the way of a short 17-minute average commute, unemployment rates of less than four percent, and a median household income of more than $96,000."
The site reports that more than 97 percent of the ZIP code's residents graduated from high school, and fewer than 1.5 percent of the families live below the poverty line. In 92121 area, the median owner-occupied home value is $587,500, the average rent is $1,633, and the unemployment rate is 3.72 percent, Movoto reports.
